NYSC - The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it will lift an embargo restricting posting of corps members to only the health, education, agriculture and rural development sectors.
Director General of the NYSC Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi stated this yesterday at the ongoing National Conference during a presentation before the Committee of Civil Society, Labour, Youths and Sports. He said the scheme has discovered that existing vacancies in the four key sectors could not accommodate the number of corps members being posted out and has therefore started working out modalities to post corps members to oil companies, banks and the telecommunication industry.
"Over time however, we found out that when we post corps members to these areas, we still have some that do not have places for their primary assignments," Gen Olawumi said. He said measures be taken to ensure corps members are not abused by the embargo
lift, lamenting that some banks in the past used and dumped corps members.
