Why I dumped PDP —Tambuwal

by Unknown  |  in NEWS at  07:30:00

SPEAKER of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Waziri Tambuwal, on Wednesday, identified institutionalised corruption within the PDP as one of the reasons he left the party.

Tambuwal, who stated this after he was officially admitted as a member of All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that apart from corruption, the PDP had also failed to address issues of youth unemployment and insecurity.

The speaker urged Nigerians to reject the PDP, pointing out that with the support of the electorate, the party would no longer be in office as from May 29, 2015.

According to him: “By the grace of Allah, by this time on May 29, 2015, PDP will be swept off the seat of government.

“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotions since I joined the APC, over which I say, thank you very much. I promise to use this opportunity to lift Nigeria from the evil governance inflicted on it by PDP.”

Tambuwal maintained that Nigeria only needed a change of leadership, adding that since PDP had failed to provide purposeful leadership, he had to quit the party.

We’ll reclaim our mandate from him —PDP

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the party would retrieve the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives from Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, adding that his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a way for God to expose him.

National vice chairman of the party in the zone, Dr Cairo Ojugboh, who made this assertion in a chat with reporters at the national secretariat of the party, in Abuja, on Thursday, said all those who stole from the party would be similarly exposed and flushed out.

“PDP is a very disciplined party. If you come and steal in the PDP and use the PDP to elevate yourself and get into office, when the time comes, God will get you out like the issue of Tambuwal.

“You can see how God has exposed him. PDP will do everything within the law to regain its seat and that is what we are going to do in Edo and Rivers states. We are going back to South-South to regain our seats,” he said.

Also speaking on Governor Rotimi Amaechi or Rivers State, Ojugboh observed that the governor would not be around to hand over to his successor when his tenure expires next year.

Advising party members to ignore Amaechi’s boast, Ojugboh alleged that the governor was already making plans to leave the country.

“I can assure you that come May 29, 2015, Amaechi will not be there in Rivers State to hand over. We know a lot of them. Some persons were boasting like that in Adamawa State, but where are they today?

The zonal national vice chairman denied that some aspirants had been denied the opportunity to obtain nomination form to contest the presidential election.

According to him, “nobody in PDP is denied nomination forms. Everybody that wants to buy has access. We are attending to the complaints coming from the sale of forms.

“If, for instance, you are from the South South and you have any complaint about anyone shortchanging you, please go to the zonal office in Port Harcourt and the issue will be addressed. The PDP will never disenfranchise anybody,” he said.

He said as a disciplined party, PDP had already taken a position on the presidency, but added that if anyone had any issue with it, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party would address it.

He said those who had paid for the ticket other than its sole candidate would be refunded.
