‘Water scarcity to last for next 11 months in Niger’

Minna—NIGER State Government yesterday warned that the ongoing water scarcity in the state might linger for the next 11 months.

Commissioner of Water Resources and Dams Development, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Azozo. who
disclosed this, said the scarcity might take longer period due to the maintenance going on in the water works in various parts of the state. According to him:”The state government is embarking on a overall turnaround maintenance of all the water works in the state and the period will be used for the procurement, importation, installation and testing of the equipment to be used for the overhauling.” Speaking on the occasion of the 2016 World Water Day, the Commissioner said the government was determined to improve water supply to residents of the state, expressing optimism that after the maintenance, there would be no more problem of water supply in the state.
