WAEC RESULT- Tension in the Air as Waec Releases her 2015 Reult

by Obeji Eric  |  in NEWS at  01:14:00

There is palpable tension in the air, particularly in some of the states suspected to be owing the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), as the examination body may release the result of its 2015 May/ June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) today.

The Head of Nigeria’s Office of WAEC, Mr. Charles Eguridu, is billed to address the media today at the examination office in Yaba, Lagos. Meanwhile, investigations by New Telegraph has revealed that in some of the states suspected to be owing WAEC the registration fees of their sponsored public schools’ candidates including Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo, some of the candidates who sat for the examinations are afraid WAEC may withhold their results as it earlier vowed.

It would be recalled that WAEC during a media briefing two weeks ago had threatened not to release the results of candidates from those it described as indebted states, saying the debt, which was quoted to be over N4 billion was already hampering the smooth operation of the examination body.

Speaking to New Telegraph, a candidate from Osun State, who craved anonymity, said it was one thing to be scared of either success or failure but it was a different kettle of fish when a candidate is unaware whether the result will be released or not. According to the candidates, though there were assurances from government sources that the debt would be paid, “one can no longer take the government for its words particularly since the unpaid workers’ salaries came up”.

Similarly, a candidate in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, said she would be shocked not to have her result released as she had already sat for the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination test at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, and only the result will guarantee her the admission.
