Jigawa Sugar Factory to starts full operation in 2015

The Jigawa state multi million Naira Hadejia Sugar Factory will commence full operations in 2015 and it will employ about 3,256  indigenes of Hadejia emirate.

The company’s Director of Engineers, Malam Umar Sanda stated this while conducting newsmen round the  sugar factory premises, said the decision of the family to take over the company was aimed at providing employment opportunity to the teeming indigenes of Hadejia emirate and Jigawa state in general.

He however stated that the family of the Late Abacha  will purchase of new equipments to enable them commence operation soonest, adding that the management of Hadejia River Bsin Development Authority has also  pledged to provide 4,000 hectares of land for the production of sugarcane that will be used in for the production of sugar.

Vanguard reports that, the Hadejia sugar factory was constructed by former Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki with the aim of  producing 1,500 metric tones of sugar daily, as Hadejia emirate is among the major producer of sugarcane in the state but the present government sold it to the family of Late Nigeria’s dictator General Sani Abacha at the cost of N980 million
